Nebojsa is a film student pressured to fight for ‘his place under the sun’. Unlike Nebojsa, his friends already have well-established systems and plans to elbow their ways to festivals and become successful directors. His passive and introverted nature worries Nebojsa’s Mother. Relying on her great trust in astrology she becomes obsessed with the idea that Nebojsa will surely succeed if only the “filmgod” Emir Kusturica would see his film. She finds further evidence for her fixation at her high school reunion party. She meets Obren, who informs her he’s presently working for Kusturica as a close business associate. She gives him a DVD of Nebojsa’s film, and sends him on a mission to show her son’s film to Kusturica. Since Obren is in love with Nebojsa’s mother, he manages to leave out the fact that he is merely a driver in Kusturica’s ethno-village Kustendorf, where the director lives isolated from ordinary people.
